ISCAP Newsflash: Johannesburg Exco and other regional meetings

  • September 01, 2012

A big thank you to all the SASCI / ISCAP members. It was a fantastic year, with great developments. As a society we are going from strength to strength.

We started off in the beginning of the year by forming the Johannesburg Exco and followed in July by having an Allied Professional Programme at the SA Heart 2012 congress.

Congratulations to the Cape Town region on their first ISCAP educational meeting. It was a huge success and it set high standards for other regions to follow. The meeting had over 60 delegates attending with two speakers who are both passionate about training and advancing cardiology to its fullest potential.

The 7th annual Medtronic Rapid Exchange held at the O R Tambo Premier Hotel this month was also a huge success. The meetings started seven years ago with only 70 delegates and have been growing every year. This year more than 200 delegates attended the meeting which also had two breakaway sessions. It was another great learning opportunity.

ISCAP is processing the final stages of the first Cath Lab Manual and has started work on the second Procedure Manual. Please be on the lookout for more great learning material in your Cath Lab. The viability of an official cath lab course is also under discussion.

ISCAP Durban, ISCAP Port Elizabeth and Pretoria will have their first committee meetings and will follow with their first ISCAP educational meeting. ISCAP JHB will follow with the region's first educational meeting.

If you are interested in being on any of the regional committees, or if you need more information, please contact our chairperson, Dianne Kerrigan (0827745329) or the ISCAP office, Sanette Zietsman (0832535212).
