ISCAP Newsflash: Now starring ISCAP Western Cape
This year has been a truly extraordinary one. As a team we have successfully introduced ISCAP to the Western Cape and reached great heights.
On 9 June 2012 an introduction to ISCAP was held at the Crystal Towers attended by about 25 allied professionals. Goals were set and we discussed what we would like to achieve. Representatives were chosen for each hospital in the Western Cape, comprising two technologists, two radiographers and four registered nurses.
On 14 July we had our first committee meeting at which Waheeda Howell joined the committee. Roles of different members were established and 18 August was set for our first ISCAP workshop to be held at Mediclinic Panorama.
Attended by about 60 professionals, Mel Winters blew us away with her easy as 1, 2, 3 understanding of the ECG, explaining it in such a fashion that even I could understand it. Maggie Petersen gave us a complete overview of how to really prepare a patient for the CathLab.
On 6 October a radiation lecture was held, starring Hendrik de Vos at Vincent Pallotti Hospital. And yes, it was our first event that was CPD-accredited, with the help of Sanette Zietsman.
On 11 October we had a committee meeting at Tygerberg Hospital. I was elected to be the chairperson, Waheeda Howell the vice chairperson and Mel Winters the secretary. Sabira, being the computer wizard, designs our invites. Nothing would be possible without all the special ladies of the committee and those attending the training sessions.
On 8 November there will be a CPD-accredited meeting presented by Boston Scientific. They have invited ISCAP to introduce themselves which will present a great opportunity to state our vision.
We are working hard to keep the society moving forward and united. I would like to thank each and every person for their time and effort that has contributed to make this a successful year.
