SCAI Fall Fellows Program in Las Vegas, 10 to 14 December 2016
Four fellows was fortunate to have the opportunity to attend the SCAI Fall Fellows Courses in Las Vegas. The academic program runs over five days and covers a wide range of practical and interesting topics in congenital/structural heart and adult cardiology: the history and fundamentals of interventional cardiovascular medicine; integration of various imaging modalities during interventional procedures; use of support devices and pharmacological therapies and prevention and management of complications to name a few. The highlight was definitely the porcine heart dissection session which was instructive and clarified some concepts in structural heart disease and the manner in which the interventional equipment and devices interact with cardiac structures.
It is an intense five days, however, the format of the course is engaging and allows for easy understanding and retention of information: a balanced mix of interesting clinical case presentations and discussions by faculty and attendees, didactic lectures, small group sessions, informative exhibitions and demonstrations. The relaxed atmosphere provides a great setting to meet the faculty as well as fellows from all over the world and facilitates the exchange of ideas.
We would like to thank SASCI-PASCAR & the SCAI Foundation for this enlightening expierence.
