SASCI Visiting Professor Programme 2020: Feedback Report from Prof Barsness

It is with fond memories that I submit this report on my recent experience as the SASCI Visiting Professor. Participating in the 2020 SASCI VPP has truly been one of the highlights of my career. The opportunity to integrate and practice alongside the South African interventional cardiology community was both professionally rewarding and personally fulfilling. I feel that I have made lasting friendships among the many eager and talented faculty while hopefully opening avenues for trainees to grow and challenge themselves into the future. I would without question recommend the program to my US colleagues, and better yet, would welcome the opportunity to return again myself some day!

The Health Market Inquiry (HMI) hearings: 23 - 25 February 2016

The Health Market Inquiry (HMI) hearings into the private healthcare sector will get under way on February 16 at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) International Convention Centre, in Pretoria. In addition to private healthcare consumers, other stakeholders expected to make oral submissions at the CSIR included public interest law centre Section 27, the World Health Organisation, the Congress of South African Trade Unions and practitioner associations. The hearings would continue at the HMI offices from February 23 to 25, when service providers would be allowed to make oral submissions.
